He first served as the co-anchor of The Today Show from 1976 to 1981 with Jane Pauley, then as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News for 22 years (1982–2004).
"Jammin' Me" is a song by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, co-written by Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Mike Campbell. The heartland rock tune first appeared on the band's 1987 album Let Me Up (I've Had Enough), and was later included on Petty's 'best of' albums Playback and Anthology: Through the Years.
After guest starring on his mother's series All in the Family (playing a Boy Scout in 1973 episode "Archie Is Branded"), he was remembered by producer Norman Lear who cast him in a recurring role as Bob Morton on the sitcom One Day at a Time, appearing in 14 episodes from 1976 to 1983.
